Review: This is another film adaptation of Irvine Welsh novel, which was said to be unfilmable, even when you read the book when it first came out, I was hit on the density of cinema history and a friendly focus antihero protagonist. The one that Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), copper dodgy trying to get Plenty of opportunity promotion by destroying his rivals by a series of gruesome intricate schemes. Meanwhile, his mind is deteriorating and he's haunted by flashbacks, waking dreams, and anthropomorphic animals. The film is quite faithful to the source, and changes (including some flat edges construed) are set to various artform.Irvine Welsh said McAvoy performance is better than De Niro in Taxi Driver. I think this is a fair comparison. Scorsese landmark feature was post-traumatic depression, while Jon S. Baird film is more manic. For me, the film most resembles filth is A Clockwork Orange. Like Kubrick masterpiece, the entire aesthetic informed by subjectivity central character. And there are more subtle techniques: the use of classical music, windows bleached, Jim Broadbent Ben reinvention of the character deltoid (one probation officer as a psychiatrist now), and the visual reference to 2001: Press A Space Odyssey film. Before, I was not convinced by the casting of McAvoy, but after seeing it, I can safely He transformative say? captures such wildness bipolar and fear in one facial expression is the sign of a special benefit. Supporting roles provides a colorful mix cartoons. Jamie Bell, Eddie Marsan and Imogen Poot all make a difference in the few moments when McAvoy to dominate screen. For me dud notes concerning the tone of the film. Sometimes Baird switching between schizoid black comedy of outbursts Robertson and his introverted guilt about his past is so sudden and sentimental about the capacity to persuade them is lost in the (lack of) transition. Part of this is down to Clint Mansell score if disappointing soft tinkly piano and strings often contradictory lifeless feel more awkward than deliberate. But these minor issues do not detract from strong, fun, and ultimately moving portrayal of mental dissolution. To say that is the best since Trainspotting Welsh adaptation can not say much? so I'll say instead that it is a great film in its own right.
